Santa Cruz

I am going off to Santa Cruz in a few weekends and would love to know of some good trails to run on while I'm there for the weekend. Any suggestions? (I'll be staying close to the campus at UCSC. Best, Libby

there are actually running trails by UCSC, see PCTR run called santa cruz mountains: www.pctrailruns.com/Santa_Cruz_Mountains.htm

There is also Nisene Marks, I run there about 3 times a week. Many places to start depending on how long you want to run: www.santacruzstateparks.org/parks/nisene/index.php

My best 10 miler was in Nisene. But I went to UCSC so ran around there a ton too.

There's also Wilder Ranch, but I'm not too fond of the heavy wind there: www.santacruzstateparks.org/parks/wilder/

i think i'm going to give the Harvey West trail a shot. how did you like ucsc? that's actually the reason i am going up there... to visit the campus. i'll be staying a few days in berkeley visiting a friend, then shooting down to santa cruz to see the campus.

I live near the campus. There are good trails to run all around the campus as well as a short drive away...some good surf spots, too. It is a nice place to get your education from a runner's (and surfer's) standpoint. If you want a good, senic and challenging loop of 16 to 18 miles that is a 15 mile drive north of Santa Cruz at Waddell Creek, let me know.
