Redwood is like 5 minutes from my house and is where I run 3 times a week. The 20k looks pretty appealing to me. It covers a lot of the trails I usually run and doesn't do into too much of the really steep stream-to-ridge, ridge-to-stream stuff I usually avoid.
The issue for me right now is that I might have something going on that weekend but won't know for sure until pretty close to the run date itself. Is this an event that usually sells out?

We haven't been able to predict several of the runs that have sold out this year. I would advise keeping an eye on this message board - we always post a note here if an event is getting close to selling out. Hope to see you at Redwood Park! Sarah

Really just two sustained steep climbs on the 20K course IMO...right out of the gate on the Canyon Trail to East Ridge (took me 4+ minutes, no walking), then again on the Eucalyptus Trail to East Ridge (took me just under 5 minutes, no walking).

The initial climb out of the starting area I had already done. I actually pre-ran the Eucalyptus part last night and was pleasantly surprised to see that I could make it up without walking. A year ago I couldn't do that on those hills. When I got home from the run, having proved to myself that I could put in a respectable effort at this course, I logged in here and asked the above.
At the moment it looks like I may wind up going up to the Sierras to dirtbike ride with some friends that weekend. This event is right in the neighborhood for me though so I'll join you all at some point, if not this month.
