I was wondering what the terrain on the trails is like for the Redwood Park 30K? Is the footing uneven? Will I need trail running shoes, or will I be OK with my regular running shoes? I have both, but have been primarily training with my regular running shoes and not the trail runners, but I would start putting some miles on them in the next couple of weeks if the terrain calls for more traction/support. Thanks!

It's quite varied...20K loop is mostly exposed wide/hard pack fireroad/trail with the exception of the short Stream Trail section (soft/narrow) and the tight/technical single track Toyon and Golden Spike Trails.
The 10K loop is both narrow/soft and narrow/technical, run mostly under the Redwood canopy, with LOTS of roots & slick rocks.
Awesome (hilly) combined 30K course, it's got it all.
I (strongly) suggest the trail specific shoe, if for nothing else but the more aggressive traction sole.

Thanks Will,
I'll be sure to start breaking in the trail runners. I can't wait! I've never seen Redwoods, so I know I'll enjoy this run immensely! I'm coming all the way from Massachusetts for this run, oh yea, and a wedding the following weekend too...but I get to RUN too!

Also, it will likely be warm, but the course has lots of shade. Plus, you should enjoy the lack of humidity.

Jeff-
That's awesome (first time in the redwoods)...you'll get the full experience on the second (10K) loop, as it runs deep under the canopy throughout.
You should then try and get across the bay during the week to Huddart Park in Woodside and run one of PCTR's course loops for an amazing training run on perfect trails...many of the redwood trees across the Bay are much older (thus taller) and will pretty much blow you away.
See you at the Redwood Park event.

It really is a beautiful course, I am really looking forward to running it. I opted for 30K but now I feel ready for the 50K. My long runs are up to 27 miles and Ive been doing runs where I am goping for "feet time" so after I finish the 30k I may ask if I (we) can continue.....
