Sarah just went through San Rafael. She's gone about 213 miles with about 12 miles to the finish at the south end of the Golden Gate bridge. She should finish before 8 p.m. tonight.

Thanks, you guys, for following along on our adventure and for all your kind and encouraging words.
It was definitely...something; I'm just not sure what, because it was really SO MANY different things! It was fun and wild and scary and funny and stressful and wonderful and hard and beautiful and long and energizing and tiring...and more.
I plan to write something up about SttS and I'll post it here, if you're interested in reading more about it.
Thanks again for your interest - it really helped me out there to know that a few of you were checking in to see how things were going.
Sarah
PS Jon, I'm just labeling the HH photos now and hope to have them uploaded this afternoon. Sorry for the delay.

Sarah,
Congrats on an awesome run and very unique achievement. I think that everyone here will be very interested to read you full account once you are able to put the thoughts into words. Now it's just 2 1/2 weeks until you need to kick some butt at Wasatch!

Oh, great, Steve - you just had to mention Wasatch, didn't you?!?! Seriously, I feel as if I am in pretty good shape for Wasatch, although I'd probably do a lot better if they brought the course down lower and just stretched it out to flatten the mountains. My goal at Wasatch is just to finish it - I've got Javelina in October if I want to run a good time for a hundred, and the timing of Wasatch isn't good for us (it's after Aaron's back in school and a long drive), so I definitely want to finish if I can so that I don't have to go back again. We shall see... Thanks again for all the support - it means so much. Sarah

Now, I have to ask whether the PCTR's SttS inaugural will be 2009 or 2010?

After reading the report, I think you'll understand why it'll never be a PCTR event. In fact, this is the only thing I've ever done (well, running related, that is) that I can say with certainty I'll never do again.
Parts of the course are on "freeway" (including a bridge that is REALLY narrow) posted "No Pedestrians" and one section is closed for construction and marked "No Trespassing". In addition, many, many miles have nearly non-existant shoulder - meaning that I was darn near touching cars (or so it felt) for hour after hour.
We figure that it could be done by avoiding the truly illegal ways we went, but it would be more like 250 miles and still have tons of traffic and narrow or no shoulders.
Sorry, Jon - I know that you'd be the first to include it in your PCTR schedule, 'cause you do ALL our hard and long races!!
