Wow – are we ever glad that we added a late-September event on Angel Island to our calendar! Truly, this was THE BEST weather day we’ve ever had on the island and we’ve put on two events a year out there for a long time. Saturday’s weather was real ‘Goldilocks weather’ – not too hot, not too cold, not too windy, not too damp. It was just right!!
Thank you to those of you who came out to make this inaugural fall event such a fun day. Lots of people made their first trip to the island on Saturday, some were making their first trip in many years, and some of you visit frequently, and it was so much fun to hear everyone talking about how neat the island is, whether on their first trip or their twenty-first. Congratulations to all the finishers, and an extra ‘Good job!’ to those of you who finished your first trail run or first ultramarathon on the cool loops of Angel Island. Our next event is the Carmel Valley Trail Run this coming Sunday down in sprawling Garland Ranch Regional Park. This park has a little bit of everything – meadows, redwood forests, creeks, and even 117 stairs that everyone gets to climb near the beginning! This event is always a lot of fun, and we hope that you’re able to join us for an 8 Km, 17 Km, 25 Km, or 50 Km down in beautiful Carmel Valley.
The weekend following Carmel Valley is the second annual San Francisco One Day 12 & 24 Hour Event, a classic fixed-time event where runners go as far as they can (or want to, at least) in 12 or 24 hours. Fixed-time events are very fun and very social, and the environment of Crissy Field is a spectacular place to run and walk some loops. We hope that you’re able to join us at the One Day – as a runner, or feel free to come out and cheer on the folks as they circle around with views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz, and so much more.
Thanks again for joining us on Angel Island, and hope we see you out on the trails again soon.
