With the implementation of 'immediate' results and the introduction of the points series, we've made a change to one of our policies.
Going forward runners must decide by check-in, at the latest, if they want to change the distance they'll be running.
While we used to let people decide part-way through their event which distance they wanted to do that day, there are now several reasons that we'll need to know by check-in whether or not you'll be running the distance for which you signed up.

So, if I sign up for a 30k and decide to extend to 50 I have to do that latest at check-in. Understood.
==> But what if I have checked in for the 50 and whimp out (for whatever reason) after 30, does that mean that in future it will be a DNF? (I think that until now you gave those runners credit for a completed 30k race).
NOT THAT THIS WILL EVER HAPPEN TO ANY OF US!! ;D
Best regards and happy holidays! Norbert

You're right, Norbert - NONE of you should EVER worry about that happening to you!!
Basically, I think people just need to try their very best to determine beforehand what they're going to do. In the past, we've told people 'You can do a loop and see how you feel, and then determine what you'd like to do ', and that really doesn't work anymore.

I always do a few extra miles since I always miss one turn or the other ;D Norbert
PS: But seriously, I know there are a few 50M and 100s waiting out there for the GP ...

Does this mean that you have finally decided to sign up for a 100-miler this year? You resisted all our efforts last year showing incredible restraint and a small tough of sanity. You will not get off so easy this time so you might as well just pick a race and sign up NOW! ;D

Steve, I AM going to sign up. The HH date was marked as tentative otherwise I would have already... This year: No whimping out! I think last year it cost me more energy to talk myself out than to just run it. Oh well...
Best regards from some running free snow days in Pennsylvania! Norbert 31:59:59 (Sarah: start the press!)

Yep, now that we have the Race Series in place and are posting results at the events as quickly as possible, runners will have to determine the distance that they plan to run by check-in at the latest. People who don't run the distance for which they sign up (or which they change to at check-in) will no longer be included in the online/final results.
