I'm coming in from NM for the 50K at Woodside next weekend. I am thinking about what I need to bring.... are the aid stations accessible to family/friends? I'd like to plan how I'll refill my fuel bottles, etc. Actually, are we allowed to have someone "crew" us? Also, are there any spots along the way that they can see runners go by? Thanks! I'm sure looking forward to the beautiful trail!

Both of the aid stations at Woodside are accessible by family/friends/crew, and they are welcome to meet you there. You pass through each aid station twice before returning to the finish where we'll have soup, chili, snacks, and beverages for runners and non-runners, too.

...and tell them: don't be bashfull about helping out while at the aid stations. Filling water bottles, restocking the PB&J sandwiches, etc. is always appreciated.

Just so you do know, a crew is not necessary at PCTR events, the aid stations are fully stocked, you'd have absolutely no issues in filling your bottles at mile 6/12/21/27.
With that said, I was out on the course today for a training run and took note of the driving times between aid stations...
Leaving the start/finish area parking lot within Huddart Park, a right turn up King's Mountain Road and the first AS is ~8 minutes driving time (on right hand side, can't miss). From there, continue up King's Mt Rd, then left on Skyline Blvd to Bear Gulch AS, ~5 minutes driving time (on left hand side, tucked a bit off the shoulder...directly across is a home/ranger station of some sort and turnout/parking with several mail boxes along the blvd...extra careful if/when crossing back over Skyline on foot).
Enjoy your trip/race...awesome parks/course.

Thanks so much, all of you! It really helps to "see" how it's laid out so I can think about what I'll need to bring, etc. I'm sure my friends will be happy to help out - especially since they may have bit of a wait for me to shuffle on by! See you all on Saturday!

I doubt that they'll need to help - we have three people this time at each aid station, plus someone to help with the road crossing at King's Mtn. They should just be able to relax, cheer, and enjoy!!
Please do remind them to bring warm clothes...and maybe an umbrella.

Yes, plenty of warm clothes. Both aid stations have redwood trees so there are lots of shadows (37 degrees at 7:30am this morning), but it's very pretty. SD

Now that you mention it, having a home near one of those aid stations would be lovely... Seriously, a beautiful area for runners and spectators! Oh, and we'll have pop-up tents/canopies at the aid stations tomorrow, too, and a heater at the one on King's Mountain. Looking forward to a fun day in Woodside! Sarah

Thanks, Scott.
I always boggles my mind how you can run so fast and still keep focused on taking pictures! I've tried carrying a digicam and I always end up not using it...
(I stole the one at the start)
