I am going to be in the Bay area over the weekend for the Muir Beach Trail Run and am considering the 50k. I am from Tennessee. Two questions, if anybody can help:
1. I won't know for sure if I will be available to run until about a month before; is there a risk of it filling?

I'll leave the first question up to the admins. ;D
As for #2. As a former resident of the South (ATL), I can highly recommend this race. You'll be treated to sweeping views of the California coast, the SF Bay and even the Golden Gate Bridge. The course is simply gorgeous.
The trails are much less technical than those in the South (no roots), but the climbs and descents are longer and will trash your quads quickly if you go out too fast. Overall, I highly, highly recommend this race.
Usually the 50K distance doesn't fill, though the shorter distances often do. Keep an eye on the event web page and this forum though, since when things do start filling up there is generally some warning.
And it was a great course when I did it last December. Plenty of climbing, though.
