My friend and I will be flying in from Pitts to do the 10 K Malibu creek trail run. This will be our first race ever. We are starting to train now, but looking at the pictures, we are concerned that this might be pushing it for our first race. We do not know what to expect with the terrain. Are there many steep hills or is it relatively flat? We have a good 5 months of training... do you think this is an OK race to do for a beginner?

I ran the 25K last year. It is a different course, but from the map it looks like half the 10k route shares some of the course with the 25k. If my memory relates to the map correctly, I think that shared section (towards the end of the 25k course) missed the biggest climbs, creek crossing, and rocky sections at the top of those mountains that you might have seen in the pictures. Even if it did go through those sections, I am sure it would be fine for beginner with 5 months training.
