Looks like it's going to be nice and warm for Merritt!!!!
Maybe the heat will keep the pigeon activity down?!?
Can't wait to see everyone out there!!!

I'm somewhat in a state of shock at the weather. A week ago the forecast high was 70. Now it's... 87???! Supposed to be a record high.
Not what I would have chosen for my first 12-hour! People who have run this before, I assume the course is completely exposed? Or are there any shaded parts?

I know it will be intense! I'll bring my secret weapon I used first when I ran a marathon in late August in Mississippi: bandana to soak in water at the aid stations. Then, I wrap it on my head, neck, whatever.
That, and well if I overheat I'll just start walking or I'll slow down (I didn't do this for the hot marathon but with a timed event, I'm happy to)

Bob, Plan on the course being exposed the entire day. I doubt there will be much of a breeze either...
Keep up on your fluids and electrolytes and you'll have a fun time out there!
Varnaho made a great point... Slow and steady! You'll be just fine!
See you both in the morning!

FYI -- looks like the nearest weather station recorded a few hours of 94 degrees today.

Dang! I wonder if those were the "few hours" I walked haha. How did you do Bob? According to the (unofficial) results at the finish, I did 50.29 miles.....making my goal of 50 miles!!!!

Congratulations! I somehow managed to get 62.9, just making my 100K goal. Good enough for 2OA. I think you must also have placed highly? They didn't have the awards ceremony at the end, and official results aren't up yet.

Wow, fantastic Bob! I don't know about place.......as you said there wasn't an awards ceremony and the results aren't posted. I hope they are posted sometime today.

Thank you for coming to Lake Meritt, Bob! That was a "brutal experience", according to some of the runners' remarks. Even hotter than Diablo! The results will be posted later today on ultrasignup.com and the awards (overall and age group) will be mailed early next week along with the event shirts!

Re: the results. Right now it says there are 50 (!) who ran the 12 hour....the ordering appears random and everyone completed 0 miles??

The 6 & 12 hour are still listed together. I think there were actually 24 runners in the 12 hour event.

The results seem to be sorted out now, with lap times... however, several of the 24-hour entrants who stopped early are currently listed as 6-hour finishers.
I asked beforehand whether one could sign up for 12, stop at 6, and get a 6-hour result, and was told no.

My results are incorrectly listed under the 6 hour. Great job battling through the heat!

94 degrees is not quite what I had in mind for my first 12 hour, but hey -- trial by fire! Next time should just be that much easier. Huge thanks to all the volunteers who kept us going out there.
