I am flying in for the SF One Day and have a couple questions. I have a 1:40pm flight home and need to sort out the logistics.
How long will the post-race activities last. I'm hoping I won't have to leave early to make the flight.
Is there a place nearby where I can clean up? If not, there seems to be a showwer facility at the airport.
How hard is it to get a taxi or other ride from Crissy Field after the race?
Thanks

We do the awards ceremony within a few minutes of the event's finish, and they typically take less than 1/2 an hour - we read through all finishers and their mileages, and hand out age group and overall awards as we go. There are 'surfers' showers' next to the bathrooms - cold water, outside. As for a taxi, you may have to call one rather than waiting by the street, but I'm not too familiar with SF taxis. I'm sure that someone else who's more knowledgable can help out here.

Danie, It's probably best to call for a cab. I would tell them to meet you at Sports Basement instead of the lagoon at Chrissy Field. Here's a list of numbers: sanfrancisco.about.com/od/gettingaroun1/qt/sftaxitips.htmI would also recommend taking a cab to the BART station and taking BART the rest of the way to the airport (a lot cheaper and you should have enough time...) bart.gov/stations/index.aspx See you in a few weeks!!! Danie,
Sarah does a great job of keeping the post race activities short so you will have plenty of time to get to the airport. It's very easy to call a taxi in SF and one will be there in ten minutes, however, my wife and I will be heading south after the race, she will not have been running for 24 hours, and would happily give you a ride to the airport if you would like one - we go right passed it.
See you out there Mike.

More often than not, it is possible to get a taxi within 10 minutes in SF. However, if there happens to be another event going on, it might be difficult or impossible. For example, the One Day a few years ago was on the same day as the Nike Women's marathon, and I could not get a cab after the run (I called a couple of cab companies, no one came--I think they had a hard time getting through).
Luckily, another runner kindly offered (like Mike!) to give me a ride home, so it all worked out fine. You could try getting a cab, and if it doesn't come, then catch a ride (at least to a BART station if nothing else).

I'm another Mike whose wife will be driving me south after the 24 hour race. Normally we would go down 280, but if you don't have any other alternatives, we could drop you at the airport.
