Diablo map help

Hello -

I'm considering the Diablo marathon event in April, but am having difficulting plotting the course description with the topo map. It becomes confusing especially through the part where the course doubles back on itself.

This section in particular - from
"Turn LEFT Upper Juniper Trail to Summit 1.6 7.5"
through
"Turn LEFT North Peak Trail 1.0 19.7"

Any help, or a different map just showing the marathon course would be greatly appreciated.

Evilrobot,

From the first aid station at Juniper Campground, the Marathon course goes to the Summit. Then, down Summit Trail to Rock City. Does an out/back to the turnaround on Trail Through Time. From Rock City, you return to Juniper Campground, then back up to the Summit. Coming off the Summit for the second time, you turn left on North Peak Trail and head to the finish.

Great - thank you! The second visit to Summit from Juniper campground was throwing me off.

Another question - having never been to Mt. Diablo park before, are the trails well marked and/or specifically marked for the trail events?

Yes, the trails on Mt. Diablo have permanent sign posts and Sarah & I personally mark the courses extremely well. You should also carry the course desription just in case there's vandalism during the event.
