Wow – it’s over. After all the months of planning, dreaming, working, thinking, organizing, stressing, and talking about it, the inaugural Headlands Hundred is finished. Thank you SO much for coming out to run last weekend and helping us to bring a Bay Area hundred miler to fruition. Based on the comments we heard from you at the finish line, you enjoyed your time out on the beautiful Marin Headlands trails, and found the course just as we’d hoped you would – spectacular, challenging, and rewarding.
And not only was it our first, it was a first for so many of you, too. We were truly honored by the number of you who selected Headlands Hundred as the event at which to run your first 50- or first 100-miler. Congratulations to each of you who completed your first on that challenging course, and we hope that you had a positive experience out there so that this was just the first of many ultras at that distance that you decide to run.
A big congratulations to the first-timers and to each of you who ran last weekend. We had a webcast while the hundred was still in progress, so some form of results have been on the website since very early Sunday morning. But now they’re complete at:

As you can imagine, a big part of the success of this event is due to the people who helped out. We’d like to start by thanking Flora and Stan, whose work began on Friday as they each marked a section of the course, picked up again before sunrise Saturday, and lasted for the duration of the race. Also Pete, who helped parts of all three days, and Malinda who worked tirelessly for 32+ hours without any sleep. And there were lots of folks who helped at aid stations, hung glowsticks, swept course markings, ran errands, hung out to cheer on runners, or some combination of those things – thanks to each one of you for helping to make this event not only happen but actually be a ton of fun for everyone involved.
Thank you again, each of you of receives this letter, for all that you did to make this event a success. And an extra ‘thank you’ to the many people who’d run with us in the past and joined us in some capacity at Headlands Hundred. We are so grateful for all your help, support, friendship, kind words, generous offers, and acts of kindness over the years that culminated in last weekend’s event.

P.S. We’re trying to figure out how many of you ran your first 50- or 100-miler at HH last weekend. If it was your first finish at that distance, we’d love to hear from you so that we can get a count of the first-timers. Thanks!
