PCTR,
I'm trying to match your map with my recollections of starting at Finley Rd. As I recall, Finley Rd dead ends at private property. I would go left well before that, behind an old white house, cross the stream and continue on an unmarked trail, sometimes reaching Rock City. Does that sound like the Finley Rd you plan? Will the course go through private property?

The course from Rock City to Finley Rd is an out/back section. If you're starting at Finley Rd., stay on the dirt road past the White House and climb up Riggs Canyon. The Oyster Point single-track trail usually is overgrown with poison oak and was used on the old course.

Wendell,
Starting at Finley, if I continue past the old house, there is a fork in the dirt road. The right fork continues to the private property. You must be decribing the fork to the left. Am I correct?
Is that the Riggs Canyon trail? I don't recall any markers/ names on any of these routes.

Yes, take the left fork. That's the start of Riggs Canyon dirt road. There are sign posts with trail names but I haven't looked at them in years.
