Hi everyone, I am planning on coming in from Colorado for the Sequoia Trail Run 10K on February 16th and was hoping to get an idea on where to stay. I see there are a lot of motels near the Joaquin Miller Park entrance but don't want to end up some place nasty. Any suggestions would be great. I'll be coming in on Thursday and leaving on Sunday. Thanks for your help.
A Running Newbie, Lee

Well, since I live in Oakland, I should say something! That's a good link Will, just to let you know, do not stay A through F (on Macarthur Blvd). Oakland's great, you just got to know where NOT to go! In the City Center (20 min drive) there is a Marriott and Courtyard Marriott) At Jack London Square (15 min drive) there's the Waterfront Inn, Executive Inn & Homewood Suites (and possibly a Motel 6?) Near the airport (25 min drive) there's a lot of new hotels that just went up. Stay on the West side of I-880 near Hegenberger (the closer to the airport the better). There's also the Rose Garden Inn in Berkeley (15 min drive). My friend is the Innkeeper there. Tell Kevin, Brad Niess sent you and you might get a discount.

Stay on the West side of I-880 near Hegenberger (the closer to the airport the better). That is, unless you want to add a little "urban adventure" to your running adventure.

I've run down High Street from the hills down to Alameda. That is quite the adventure, even at 7AM!
