I will be driving from LA for the April 12 trail run. Is it feasible to camp somewhere near the start the night before and drive to the start in the morning next day? Thanks, Yi Feng

We don't know of any camping within a short drive of the Diablo start. There is camping on Mt. Diablo itself, but the gates aren't unlocked in time for you to leave the campground and make it around to the start in time to participate in the event.
This is one of the few events on our calendar without nearby camping, actually.

Sarah,
Thanks for the information. What are the campsites of the other PCTR events that are not too far away from the Diablo marathon? Relatively to Los Angeles, a campsite closer to Clayton will be desirable. Thanks again in advance for your information.

Other events on our calendar have their own links to 'Camping' on their web pages. But our other events aren't that close to Clayton, so none of the camping listed is that close to the start of Diablo. You can go to the 'Reserve America' site and type in the Clayton zip code of 94517 and see what pops up - it looks like the next closest camping is about 16 miles away. www.reserveamerica.com/Maybe some others on this message board can recommend something in the 16-20 mile range. Anthony Chabot Family Campground of the East Bary Regional Park system has a campground that you can leave from at any time but n ot get back in until gate open. It is a good camping place. Allow about an hour to get to Diablo. www.ebparks.org/node/62
