What kind of weather should be expected for the Forest Park 50K on May 25? I'm from Texas and have never been to Portland. Thanks!

While I admit that I moved from PDX to the Bay Area over 20 years ago, I still view myself as a faithful Oregonian...
That disclaimer being said, Portland on average is in the mid-60's around the end of May. The rains tend to ease up by the end of May/beginning of June, but you may want to bring a light rainjacket just in case. Rain is usually more like showers, not big storms.
The park has some longer shaded areas as well, so it might feel a bit cool, especially in the morning.
Hope this helps, Marissa

And there's always the chance that it could be quite warm. Two weeks ago I ran in Forest Park and it was 80 degrees. The next weekend it was snowing. You'll have a better idea how the weather will shape up by checking the online weather sites the week of the race.

The 50k route is almost entirely shaded. The past two years, there's been good running weather-- cloudy, 55-65 degrees, no wind to speak of on the trail. Also, part of the route gets VERY muddy when it rains a lot. Right now the trails are in good shape, but the weather has been so fickle this year, your guess is as good as mine for May 25.
