As we left the park early Monday morning after over 20 hours on Mount Diablo, we were tired but very, very happy. We’d had over 170 starters on this most challenging of courses, a beautiful day for runners and spectators, some of the best helpers and rangers imaginable, and so much more fun at the finish line than we’d thought possible. Thank you for coming out to Diablo to run on some of our favorite trails – some of the Bay Area’s toughest. As many of you commented on Sunday, no matter how spectacular the weather, no matter now prepared you are, no matter your pace - this course will challenge you. Congratulations to all who accepted that challenge and were at the starting line last Sunday – you are to be commended!
And big congratulations to all the finishers, whether of the marathon, the 50 miler, or of some distance in between. Each of you who participated should be very proud of your accomplishment. We were honored to be there to congratulate you and hear about your run, and we were so pleased that a lot of you decided to hang out, eat, and share your tales from the trails. What a fun and rewarding day, hearing about snake sightings, falls taken and avoided, good and bad decisions made, first trail marathon and first 50-mile finishes, and everything else that went on out on the mountain.
Not content to ‘just’ finish, three people set course records on Sunday – how impressive is that?! Complete results are available at:

Our next event is the inaugural Lake Merritt Half Day on May 12th, where we’ll have 6-hour and 12-hour events in which to run. Lake Merritt is nation’s largest urban salthingyer lake and presents a lovely backdrop for this fixed time event. Fixed time events are a social way to run or walk as far as you want, and we’re looking forward to a fun day around the lake in downtown Oakland.
Our next trail run is the Skyline Ridge Trail Run on Sunday, May 20th at which we’ll have 14 Km, 23 Km, 37 Km, and 50 Km distances. This is one of our mellower trail runs with less-technical trails and not as much elevation gain as many others, so it makes a good run to go a little farther than you have in the past.
We hope that you’re able to come out to run at one of these upcoming events.
Thank you again for joining us on Sunday and hope we see you out on the trails again soon.
