We’d kind of messed ourselves up when we scheduled our events this year. We’d ended up scheduling four events back-to-back, starting with the Lake Merritt Half Day and ending with last Saturday’s Mount Diablo Trail Run. We weren’t sure how we’d get through it all, really - especially Mount Diablo, since we were still in Portland on Monday, so just had a few days to wrap up Forest Park and do all the work to get ready for this one. We wondered beforehand if Saturday would feel hectic and long. But, as it turned out, last Saturday was an absolute blast for us from start to finish! So many runners, including lots of great friends, running on our favorite mountain on a beautiful day and then hanging out to sit in the shade, chat, and eat afterward – we couldn’t have asked for a better, more fun, darn-near-relaxing event to wrap up the four weekends!!
Thank you so much for coming out and for helping to make the day so enjoyable for us and for everyone else…enjoyable to look back on, at least, for those of you who struggled on the mountain. As always, regardless of how far one gets, finishing a run on Mount Diablo brings with it a real sense of accomplishment. We hope that all you first-time trail runners, especially, are very proud of yourselves. Also, one person joined the ranks of ultrarunners after Saturday’s run – and finished his first 50 Km looking amazingly happy and strong!! Congratulations to the first-timers and to all the finishers, too. Complete results are available at:

Our next event is the Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Run on Saturday, June 16th, where we’ll have 10 Km, 21 Km, 29 Km, and 50 Km distances from which you may choose. This is always a popular run, particularly for the three longer distances, as runners doing at least 21 Km get to cross the San Lorenzo River – more than once! Hope that you’re able to join us at wonderful Harvey West Park for this fun event on the beautiful and varied Santa Cruz trails.
Thanks again for coming out to Mount Diablo last weekend, and hope we see you out on the trails again soon.
