Im doing the Santa Cruz 50K, so there are four river crossings. I do not have trail running shoes (Asics Kayanos). Will those drain out or will my feet be soaked throughout the whole run if i keep my shoes on.
How about socks, so those dry becasue I would think that they would stay wet the whole time and give you blisters and such.

I was thinking about this question earlier and then I thought about not trying anything new during a race. So, it might be a good idea to actually run through a stream on a training run to find out what your shoes would be like and how long it took for them to dry out. Just an idea. I've run through streams before and though not ideal to run in wet shoes, I wouldn't let it spoil the run.

I have run through creeks, etc on trail runs and the Injinji wool socks are great- they dry quickly- no blisters.

We have never had a problem with shoes or socks not drying out after getting wet. I run in one or two pairs of very thin socks, and they always seem to be dry before I even have the chance to worry about it.
Most runners this weekend will leave their shoes and socks on to cross, although some will stop, take them off, and carry them across. Do whatever makes you most comfortable. It's important for your feet to be happy, especially after the first two crossings, which come relatively early in the run.
