Perhaps you can help me with a dogs allowed question (not for the actual event, but for enjoying the course and general fitness for both of us beforehand). For the Santa Monica Mountains course and the Sycamore Canyon course, are dogs allowed in those areas (specifically heading out from La Jolla Canyon and Sycamore Canyon for the 8K and 9K loop courses)? Isn't this area part of Point Mugu, and I thought dogs are allowed in Point Mugu?

Actually, if you read the entire thing, they're allowed across the street at the beach, not on the trails. Or at least that's how I read it:
Point Mugu State Park, 15 miles south of Oxnard in southern California, allows dogs at Thornhill Broom Beach.

There is a no dogs sign on the La Jolla canyon trail head. Not sure about the Ray Miller trail. I don't recall seeing a sign on that trail head.
There does not appear to be any enforcement, as I almost tripped over several dogs this past weekend.

Why is your state so anti-dog. I love California but laws that ban dogs in the wilderness is a little weird. What a screwed up state. Living in Alaska this is such a foreign question to see asked. I had to reply. Okay enough ranting.

I agree, the city or renting is not dog friendly either
