I wanted to send a “Thank You” to the PCTR family for helping make my first 50k a memorable one. I was extremely nervous going into the run. I had bronchitis 3 weeks before, so I wasn’t sure I was going to be ready. I also flew in from Korea the day before, so I was certain I was in trouble with jetlag. After some chat and encouragement from the folks around me, I made it through.
Thanks again to all! This certainly will NOT be my last 50K. I’m eying up the Carmel Valley in October!

Why, thanks you guys! It was great to meet you briefly, Brian, and congratulate you on your first ultra finish - quite an accomplishment, made even bigger by your recent travels. And great to see you once again, Luis - hope that things work out and allow you to join us many, many times in the future.
Thanks to you two and everyone else who came out - it was a super-fun day, wasn't it?! - and hope to see lots of you in Pacifica at the end of the month, too.
Sarah

A hearty "Thank You!" to everyone who made my race day so spectacular! It was wonderful to experience new trails and enjoy such great camraderie. Saturday was by far the most life-affirming birthday I've had in years. Thanks all for the smiles and laughs and support! I liked seeing familiar faces multiple times during the 29K, and the encouraging words were always a boost. A special thank you to the two mountain bikers who came to my rescue after the 2nd river crossing. My shoe lace had just snapped, and my right shoe would not stay on my foot without it. I sat on the side of the trail for ~5 minutes trying to repair the lace to keep my shoe on, getting more down by the minute, and thinking I was going to have to run barefoot or hike the last 4 miles. Then 2 mountain bikers approached, and I jokingly asked "have a spare shoelace?" They stopped and helped me fix my "runner's flat tire" as they called it, with 2 zip ties they had. I threaded the ties through the lace holes, cinched them down, and was off running again in no time! Isn't it wonderful to share the trail with kind folks like that? I finished the last four miles feeling strong and full of joy, feeling like I wanted to run forever. Hope everyone has a great time at Pacifica! Its a wonderful course. I'll be running in Colorado that weekend, but will be back at another PCTR race soon. happy running! Sarah p.s.
