I'm from Colorado and this is my first time running the course. Can I run the 30K in road shoes or will trail shoes be necessary? Thanks for providing the inside tip!

You'll be fine with roadies, no worries. Bottomline...wear the shoes you're most comfortable/confident with.
Have a great race.

Yes, I wear basic running shoes too.
at any rate, the trail is relatively smooth (except in the beginning but thats all up hill anyway)

with the course change, that first section is now all fire road as well.
The only somewhat technical section that remains is Pirates Cove. It was a bit muddy there last weekend, but it was also pouring rain. ;D Most everything else is fire road and smooooooth single track, so you'll definitely be fine in roadies. Have fun out there tomorrow!
