I'll be flying in from Utah. Which airport is closest (best)? Where is the closest (best) lodging? Any other advice? Thanks!

The closest actual airport is San Louis Obispo Regional (SBP). It is a small regional airport serviced by only two carriers so the flights will be pretty limited. I've never flown there myself. The other option is to fly in to San Jose (SJC) which is about a 3 hour drive from there.
The closest lodging would be in Los Osos which is where the park is located. I don't know much about the town, but it is a little removed from other things in the area. San Luis Obispo is the biggest city with lots of amenities as the college is right there. If you want something more a little more "beach" then I would recommend Pismo Beach. It's a tourist town, but should be pretty slow in February.

You could also stay in Morro Bay which is just 1 town north of Los Osos & also on the water. San Luis Obispo would be about a 20-25 min drive if I remember correctly from my college days Pismo is a little further down the coast, about 15-20 min beyond San Luis Obispo. Traffic on the central coast is a non-issue. There is also an airport in Santa Maria (SMX), 30 miles south of SLO. It is small too, but one time I landed there as my flight was diverted from SLO due to high winds. Not sure if it's any cheaper for flights or not.
