STTS hotel and shuttle advice

A 75 minute shuttle ride... ... is that the best option for people to stay in a hotel? I'm having a hard time making a choice on hotel location. Am I correct in assuming that it's a better idea to stay closer to HWY 1 (the shuttle) rather than near Cupertino or even closer to the trail head? Any hotel recomendations either way?

debdebonthego, logistically it's best to stay near the finish line of the race (HWY 1) and take the bus ride to the start. The catch is, there's not much there. There was a discussion on places to stay 2 years back on the PCTR board that I'll re-post. Make sure you read both pages. On the 2nd page there are references to the Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel and Costano that are nearby.
