I am so excited about this run!! Wondering how deep the "crossings" might be and any tips for newbies that might help.

I am also a newbie. Is there any trick to prepare for a river crossing. I know I'll be getting wet (yeah), but should I know anything else?

I’ve never been on this trail, but since no one else is answering: There’s a photo on the Malibu Creek Run home page of the creek crossing. It looks like it was about shin deep that year. This year’s water level may be slightly different, higher or lower, but probably in that general range. Some people take their shoes off to cross barefoot, others just run or wade right through with their shoes on.

I know that in previous years, there was an option to bypass the creek crossing and add maybe 100-200 feet by continuing to the highway bridge.

"crossings"....i only remember one from last year. it was at about the 2.5 mile mark on the loop. last year the water level never got above mid calf deep...then again this sunday i guess it could be a river based on the recent and expected rains...i still wouldnt worry much about the crossing...i'd focus more on the 2,500' 5 mile climb that immediately follows it =)

As I wrote on the other post flying in from England today and decided last minute on race. Anyone around Woodland hills area tonight to meet up for social would be good to keep me from my jet lag and learn more on this race? Looks great and scenery will help me see natural side of US before I go into 1 week of conferences in San Diego and Laguna. Done a few races like this in UK so far like this and just glad of the warmer weather! If you worry about the crossing check out the last event I did www.toughguy.co.uk site? Race entry looks small so hope to find a partner who is happy to run with me. My time for half marathon is around 1:45. See you there ;D
