I'm going to run part of the skyline to the sea trail this weekend and was wondering if there's a place to park near the beginning of the trail (where the 50K begins). Looking to do an out and back. Any help on the parking would be appreciated. Thanks!!

You can park at the very beginning at the parking lot at the corner of Hwy 9 and 35.
If that's full, you can park on the turnout about 1/4 mile down Hwy (towards Waterman Gap) where the trail crosses Hwy 9 the first time.
And finally, there's some parking at the Vista where the trail crosses Hwy 9 the second time, about a mile down the road.
I've not seen signs limiting the time you can remain parked, but I believe none of them allow overnight parking. And as always, use your discretion. If you see broken safely glass shards on the ground then in all likelihood cars will get broken into.

Thank you very much for the information. I'll be there Saturday morning (8:30am) for and easy run / walk if anyone is interested. Looking to be on my feet for about 5 hours. Easy pace. It's my first 50K and I would like to get a good idea of what I'm up against.

Just to be clear, we're not supposed to park at the start for the actual race. PCTR will get in big trouble with the powers that be if that happens. But for a training/reconnaissance run, that is not a consideration.
