Per the Facebook page, Big Basin was postponed by a week. The PCTR web site, the PCTR Google calendar, and this forum have not changed, but I assume that they are just behind on that.
Unfortunately the new date conflicts with CTR's Horseshoe Lake event, which I had hoped to do, so now I have a choice to make...
Update: The web site has been updated. The Google calendar does not appear to have been.

For those of us coming from out of state (i.e. flying with paid for flight reservations etc), the Big Basin date change makes me a little nervous about signing up for anymore PCTR/CTR runs. It is too expensive to make flight changes. What gives with the late-breaking date changes anyway? I almost signed up for Big Basin back in March. I had a couple of PCTR/CTR runs on the horizon for this summer, but now I'm rethinking my plan, especially considering how many other events (that wouldn't have last minute date changes) there are to participate in.

As an event director, I know that permitting issues occur from time to time. And it causes a tremendous amount of additional work and disruption for everyone.
FWIW, as of April 1st, Coastal Trail Runs is owned and operated independently of PCTR.

We were absolutely shocked to find out the news from the park yesterday. In over 10 years of hosting events, PCTR has never had to reschedule or cancel an event. We regret that the park approved someone else's event for that date even though we submitted our permit application in January 2010 and had verbal approval of the date from the park's Special Events Coordinator.
