We are planning a trail maintenance day on Mt. Diablo on Sunday, March 23rd. You may work the whole day or for just a few hours, if you prefer. More details on when and where on the mountain to meet coming soon. Sarah I'm pretty sure (~90%) that I'm in for this. It will be a nice "recovery day" after Pirates Cove.

Just called East Bay Regional Parks and found a trail work for Wasatch. Have to figure out how to do Mt. Diablo trail work for AC because I might do Coyote Two Moon on that weekend. Chihping

Uh oh, clash with C2M... Guess I'll have to explore other possibilities. Any ideas? Chihping, what are you doing for Wasatch? I might join you there.

We can arrange for you guys to do trail work on Diablo at another time that works for you - Wendell's just checking now to find out what trails need the maintenance. Perhaps you two want to find a time when you go out to Diablo together, like the weekend before or after.
We've arranged 'independent' trail work in the past for folks when our organized date hasn't worked out.

That'd be cool - as long as it helps for the Diablo 50 I'm in (unless I'd be the only one. I'd rather have some company)

Harry, we can go together for the Mt. Diablo trail work. I called Coyote Hill regional park, which is near my home. They happen to have some trail work. 5hr each time and the time is flexible. I'll go there a few times to make 8hr - 3+3+2, while having my family happy. You can check any park near to you and they possibly have some work for you. If my understanding is correct, Almaden Quicksilver county park is a good one for you. Quicksilver 50K/M is also held there. For me, I like Mt. Diablo more since I can get there without driving - Bike + BART! Chihping

Marissa and I will be coordinating the trail work while Wendell's at Barkley, so you guys who are in C2M can still get your required work done in March. You may work up to 8 hours - but people who'd like to work a partial day are very welcome, too.
We'll plan to meet at Rock City around 8 a.m. and we'll be working on the Oyster Point section of the Diablo 50 course - from the Finley Road aid station back to Rock City.

Oh man, my parents visit from Austria and we will be in L.A. that weekend. Darn!
Nevertheless, thanks for organizing that! Norbert

No problem, Norbert. My mom will actually be here that weekend, too - but only from Milwaukee. Hardly as exotic as your folks' home!! For anyone who plans to come out to do trail work, please either let us know here or write to events@pctrailruns.com so that we can add you to the list and send out instructions a few days beforehand. Should be a fun day on the mountain, as usual! Sarah

Funny, Brian.
I have enough left-over medication from my last poison oak debacle (Woodside) to open my own pharmacy. NO MORE E.R. VISITS FOR ME!
The fully healed Marissa

Luckily, Marissa will be there mostly in a supervisory capacity - and I think we should get her a laser pointer so that she can point out the p.o. without getting too close. I've heard that she doesn't even have to actually touch the stuff to have it 'get her'. Sarah

The park supplies all the tools and gloves, too - although I usually take my own cheap gardening gloves that fit (the park's are big on me) and then I just throw them away after so as not to deal with poison oak as much.
As for food and drink, my group will be hiking about 6 miles and working as we go, so you'll want to bring something pretty 'portable'. The rest of the folks (people who want to work a shorter time or travel less) will be staying closer to Live Oak. We typically each bring enough for ourself and then a few people might bring a little something to share - I think I had extra Rice Crispy Treats or something light last time. I'm planning on bringing my stuff in a backpack or hydration pack or something so that I don't have to carry anything in my hands.

Hey Sarah, I'm not sure what trail you guys will work on (or how you decide), but the only trail I saw last weekend that looked bad was the section between North Peak and Olympia. There was a downed tree there and also a section of washed out trail (I think).
